John Kimble, recently retired from the USDA National Soils Laboratory, develops soil sampling methods and oversees field measurement systems and soil sampling quality control. With the USDA, he was responsible for the national soil surveys and soil characterization in the U.S. for over 30 years. Kimble has worked extensively in many countries of the world implementing soil carbon measurement systems. As a carbon modeling specialist, John is a leader in the development and refinement of global carbon management models for documenting and calibrating carbon accrual in various ecosystem types and landscapes. As a forester, he has also been very involved in forest carbon management and documentation, and measurement of carbon accrual and market value.

Tom Hunt, Ph.D., professor of Soils and Reclamation Sciences at University of Wisconsin, Platteville, has worked extensively with the reclamation of disturbed landscapes, rebuilding soil systems and vegetation systems to stabilize sites such as mined lands, highly eroded landscapes and industrial brownfields.

Alan Haney, Ph.D., is a retired Dean of the College of Natural Resources at University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. Dr. Haney has spent over 40 years in the measurement of forest system production and forest biodiversity, and has worked with forest system yields under various management systems. He was trained in forest ecology at Yale University.

Michael Sands, Ph.D., brings a unique range of experiences as a specialist in agricultural systems and the operational integration of land management, food production and livestock management. Dr. Sands has worked throughout the world as a research program director of the Rodale Institute, and in various positions in the study and design of farm management practices.
